Project Pardalote
Pardalote is our flagship project, featuring our first ever flight scale SRAD hybrid propulsion system. Pardalote is the first Australian SRAD Hybrid entry to win the category and first SRAD Hybrid ever to win the overall award. Proudly with just a 3.42% apogee error, Pardalote is the most accurate 10,000 FT SRAD Hybrid to date.
Project Rosella
Rosella is the second iteration of project Bluewren and builds upon it’s strong foundations. It features our first SRAD flight computer Spear Lily as well as SRAD parachutes. Rosella had two successful launches at our launch site Tolarno Station in New South Wales.
Project Bluewren
Bluewren is our most powerful rocket to date. It became the first ever Australian entry place 1st in the category in 30K COTS and 1st overall. Noticeably, Bluewren’s payload Callistemon also took out 1st in the SDL Payload Challenge.
Project Firetail
Firetail is the team’s first ever 30K COTS Solid rocket and Australia’s first ever entry to the 30K COTS Solid category at SAC. Proudly Firetail took out 1st place at AURC 2020 and 2nd place at SAC 2020 in the 30K COTS category.
Project Bronzewing
Bronzewing is the second iteration built upon the foundation of the successes of Silvereye. It aims to maximize the performance that can be achieved in a 10,000 FT rocket form factor.
Project Silvereye
Silvereye is Australia’s first ever entry into any category at SAC all the way back in 2019 in the 10,000 FT COTS category. Proudly, it also became the first ever Australian entry to place 1st in any category in the competition and still holds the highest amount of points scored to this day.
Project Wedgetail
The team’s debut rocket, Wedgetail soared to an apogee of ~5,000 FT in 2017. It marks the first ever rocket built and launched by a student team iin Australia
Project Wattle
Wattle is the team’s second hybrid rocket engine and first in the mid-scale form factor. A notable outcome of Wattle was our Arthursleigh permanent rocket engine testing facility which has been used for multiple generation of our SRAD hybrids.
Project Waratah
Waratah is the team’s first ever hybrid in a mini form factor. Waratah provided foundational knowledge in procedures, safety, simulation and designing of hybrid rocket engines still used by our team to this day.
Project Callistemon
Callistemon is the team’s entry to the 2022 SDL Payload Challenge as a space-junk technology demonstration capture payload. Callistemon is proudly the first Australian entry to place 1st in the payload challenge.
Project Tetratheca
Tetratheca is the team’s entry to the 2020 SDL Payload Challenge as a technology demonstration on detumbling manoeuvres for light-weight sattelite in a space environment.
Project Ironbark
Ironbark is the team’s SRAD aerodynamics and trajectory simulation and modelling suite. Developed alongside Bluewren, Ironbark was crucial to the team’s success with it’s rapid and reliable simulation results.
