Waratah’s testing campaign will progress to a static fire of our sub-scale proof of concept engine. Currently powered using N2O and a 3D printed ABS fuel grain, the team aims to explore other propellants in the near future. Our research team have also developed a modular test stand with remote operation and data acquisition capabilities with the capacity to support full scale flight models.
This marks the first major step in the research and development campaign and will build the foundation for future scale up developments. The program aims to provide students with invaluable practical experience through the design, manufacturing and direct testing of rocket engines with the ultimate goal of competing in the coveted SRAD category at Spaceport America Cup.
